UNEEDA VACATION is proud to be the beginning of the happily-ever-after for Melanie Jackson and Dezi Alexander.

The Jackson Alexander Wedding

How we met

Their story begins in 2003 when Dezi saw Melanie one day at a softball game and asked one of her teammates to hook them up. Unfortunately, Melanie must have talked to the wrong person because they never met.

Fast forward to 2004. Melanie had an event close to where Dezi was having softball practice with his co-ed team. Melanie wanted to get a quick practice in and decided to attend the practice.

According to Dezi’s version of the story, Melanie was "extra friendly" or "flirtatious" with him during practice, which led him to ask for her number. She really did not want to give him her number because other guys on the softball team wanted to "talk" to her and she did not want to cause problems with the team. Anyway ...throwing caution to the wind ...Melanie gave Dezi her number.

A week or so later Melanie’s former teammate saw them together at a game and came up and told her that Dezi, the guy she was getting to know, was in fact the same guy that was trying to talk to her the year before.

It appears, they were truly meant to be!!!

The Proposal

RIU Palace Las Americas Cancun - Where we stayed during the engagement tripMelanie and Dezi were in Mexico for her brother's wedding. This was supposed to be a family gathering/getaway.

On August 20, 2005, they spent the day with Melanie's parents at Isla Mujeres, basically babysitting. Dezi, of course was more than just a little bit frustrated about that.

They were able to go snorkeling before it started raining. However, the boat ride did not leave them feeling at their best. On the way back to the hotel, Melanie’s parents wanted to go to the mall, but Dezi did not. Needless to say, it was a very quick trip to the mall.

Dezi wanted to go snorkeling again behind the hotel. They were able to find some gear and went before sunset. As they were snorkeling, Dezi motioned to Melanie that there were some fish by him and she should come see. As Melanie swam closer to him, she did not notice any fish, but she did see something shiny under the water. Next thing she knew Dezi was pointing to himself, the ring and her. At first, Melanie was clueless and did not understand what was going on. They both got out of the water and Dezi again asked her to marry him. She accepted and here we are.
